Another busy weekend!

Wow, that was a busy weekend after the July 4th celebrations! It was great to see so many boats in the Marina. Summer is finally upon us, and those trips to Catalina are calling us all so let's get out there!

Catalina Rendezvous 2024 Countdown

Long Term Parking for Catalina and
Other Boating Excursions

Speaking of Catalina, thank you to those who have been requesting long-term parking passes when you plan to be out on your boat for more than three days. This is crucial due to the ongoing work in and around the Marina, which may require you to park in specific locations.

Remember, the maximum number of days your vehicle can remain parked on-site is three days (two nights) unless you are a legal liveaboard or are actually out on your vessel (the latter of which you should get a long term parking pass).

Parking is very limited for boaters on-site, especially on busy weekends. To maximize available parking, please have your guests carpool or use Uber. I will not be providing more than two guest parking passes without a very, very good reason! (Good reasons may possibly include a bottle of Kettle One or Red Wine "appearing" in my office around the same time as your request...) But seriously, if you have a boat that takes 8-10 passengers, you are not going to get more than 2 passes...

~ FAIR WARNING ~

If you are "storing" a vehicle on-site, please make arrangements with an outside parking facility and move your vehicles, as I will begin towing these vehicles over the next couple of weeks. I have mentioned it enough times now, and many vehicles are still parked in the garage, and have not moved in weeks. It's a condition of your slip lease not to store trailers or vehicles on-site. If you have a trailer or "stored" vehicle please move it off site.

If you really need to have a vehicle regularly on-site for more than three days at a time, please contact me to discuss your options.

Mooring at Catalina

For those who have never been to Catalina, there are great articles online about navigating from Marina del Rey to Two Harbors and Avalon Harbor. I suggest visiting Avalon first as it offers more activities, restaurants, shops, museums, and fun for the whole family. Two Harbors is more relaxed, with a single bar, restaurant, and general store, making it a true boater destination.

Mooring at Catalina can seem intimidating at first but is easily mastered with some practice and pre-planning. Avoid looking like a newbie by organizing hand signals with your crew to prevent yelling while surrounded by seasoned boaters. Here is a good video demonstrating the correct pickup and mooring procedure for both Avalon and Two Harbors. Heads to your Holding Tank Only!

Just a heads up (no pun intended) , I have sent out some notices to some boaters this week and thought it best to remind all of you to ensure your vessel's heads are directed to your holding tank and not overboard.

If your vessel is found to be violating this, your slip will be canceled , and you will be asked to find an alternative marina. (This is a non-negotiable situation, and should be taken more seriously than a chest-aiming sting ray - so get-er-done).

Regularly get your holding tanks pumped out! We have several authorized pump-out companies that come to your boat and perform this service as well as our own pump-out dock. So please, please utilize these facilities to avoid an extremely unpleasant conversation with me.

Painting the Pavilion Fence

Over the next week or so, we will be re-painting the pavilion fence, I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, however it is maintenance that needs to be completed so our facilities remain at their best! So please watch out for those wet paint signs!

Liveaboard Mail Lockers

& Package Pickup

For the convenience of our live-aboard tenants, I have created a mail room with 24/7 access and individual lockers for their mail and packages. This actually a selfish move on my part as it will get all the mail and packages out of our office! :)

For the rest of you, there will be shelving in this room for the general packages delivered here and you will have daytime access to collect these packages.

If you currently have packages delivered to us, or if you PLAN to have packages delivered to us, please let us know IN ADVANCE so we can expect these deliveries. That said, we have a lot of packages and mail that has not been collected. Moving forwards, if items remain in the mail room for more than 14 days, they will be returned to the sender.

I trust you understand that we will not be a regular mailing service for you. However, I am aware that sometimes it is easier to have parts like Bilge pumps etc. delivered here rather than at your residence. So… Boat related deliveries only please!

Use of the Boaters Pavilion

The boaters' pavilion, swimming pool, and additional facilities are for the enjoyment of our boating community. They are not for hosting large parties or gatherings . Please act respectfully while using these facilities, avoid playing loud music, and limit disturbances. If you have children, they must be supervised at all times.

You may invite a maximum of two guests who may accompany you , (this means you must be present with them at all times. (You may not give someone your fob to use our facilities). Do not block open access gates or bathroom doors. If you see someone doing this, please inform us and remove the blockage so the door locks. Do not let someone without access into any gate or bathroom. (Remember the sting ray...).

Key Fob Registration

We will be re-registering all owners' key fobs, as mentioned in last week's Nautical Notions. This can be done in person at the office or online.

All unregistered key fobs will be deactivated on August 1st. Please ensure your key fob is registered by this date!

Competition Winner!

Last week's impromptu competition received many excellent responses!

The most correct answer would have to include both Spock and Captain Kirk , who, showing the depth of their friendship, finished the sentence for struggling and dying Spock, The movie of course, was The Wrath of Khan.

Ice Delivery - July 4th

To ensure efficient ice delivery over the 4th of July weekend and avoid shortages, order your ice online or call the office to order by the end of business on July 3rd.

We will not be delivering ice unless it has been ordered! If you won't be aboard at the time of delivery, please leave a cooler on the aft deck for us to fill. Ice deliveries will be added to your monthly account at $7.00 per 16 lb bag

Heated Swimming Pool

Our boaters have their own swimming pool!

Our boaters get exclusive access to our beautiful boaters pavilion and swimming pool.

Pool hours are from 8am - 10pm daily. The pool is heated to a comfortable 72deg year round and the depth ranges from 3'-8'.
